Palisades is a sparsely populated hamlet that epitomizes what country living is all about. It is located in Rockland County, NY.
The hamlet has no legislative bodies, nor mayor. It does, however, have its own post office, library, and zip code 10964. It is also almost entirely residential with the exception of a small industrial area that’s located on the Tappan border and two non-conforming properties on Route 9W.
The hamlet hugs the southernmost border of Rockland County and is just 15 minutes away from the George Washington Bridge, and within 2 hours of New Jersey.
Within the hamlet, there is an enclave of about 100 houses known as Snedens Landing that was named after a ferryman - Robert Sneden. The jaw-dropping scenic views of Snedens Landing attract affluent well-educated individuals as well as celebrities.
The hamlet has its own historic district known as the Closter Road - Oak Tree Road Historic District. This area comprises 19 properties that reflect the historic core of the hamlet that is Palisades and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
