Greenwood Lake is one of the villages in Warwick, an Orange County town located in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York State. Other villages surrounding the town include the Village of Warwick and the Village of Florida.
Greenwood Lake has a population of about 4,000 people. It is also a lakefront town that’s just about 50 miles from the New York City. It’s close to the Appalachian Trail and the picturesque Sterling Forest State Park.
The village borders the lake, a 7.3 mile stretch of water on the border of New York and New Jersey. The lake has both rocky and sandy shores, lined with private docks and houses. In the village is a half mile commercial strip and some small neighborhoods. Many homes are located a few miles outside the village in other beach neighborhoods. More properties are seen on the mountain ridges and the green hillsides.
Driving up the meandering roads, where almost no two houses look alike, gives one the feeling of ample space, even though, typically, most of the lots are only 50 X 100 feet.
Antique stores, cafes, restaurants, and art galleries, are available in Warwick, which is just eight miles away.
