Building Life-Changing Communities for Families in Need

carousel_newstory (2)

Last month we announced our partnership with New Story, a non-profit organization that works to transform dangerous living environments into communities of safe, sustainable homes. To date, we have raised 89 percent of our fundraising goal! Rich Ellis, owner of Ellis Sotheby’s International Realty shares more about the need for safe housing.

Q: Why is this cause important to you?

A: Having a safe place to call home should a basic human right, yet there are so many people across the world that do not have the simplest needs in life—running water, a home with a door or even a home at all. New Story identifies communities in need and provides families with shelter and a safe home.

Q: Why partner with New Story Charity?

A: Our global affiliation with the Sotheby’s International Realty® brand provides us with a unique perspective on the world. Even though the communities served by New Story are located internationally, the world is a small place and it’s our responsibility to reach beyond our local community and help those less fortunate than ourselves.

Q: What do donations provide?

A: New Story puts 100 percent of donations toward the creation of safe communities, building homes for $6,000 each and giving them to families in need to impact their lives for generations to come. The organization also hires local craftsmen for the construction of these homes, which further simulates the local economy.

New Story has created 7 communities, has funded 805 homes and has helped 3,945 people in Haiti, El Salvador and Bolivia, but the need is great. Please help us reach our $6,000 fundraising goal by donating. Any amount—small or large—would make a tremendous impact on one family’s life.
